Has anyone ever heard of the Reading Reflex method of teaching and is this considered a multisensory structured language program. My 8yo daughter was recently diagnosed as dyslexic and we have been using this program with her but i am not sure if it is a method that is useful given her ld.
“Reading Reflex” is a book written for parents that describes how to use the Phono-Graphix approach to teach reading. PG has an excellent track record with dyslexics (and my own dyslexic daughter learned to read quickly with it). It is or is not multisensory, depending on how you define multisensory. It does use writing while saying (and hearing) sounds, to reinforce all the inputs. It does not use “finger spelling”. It is definitely structured. Many times when “multisensory structured language program” is specific, it means a method based on Orton-Gillingham. While PG is heavily indebited to OG, it is not an OG methodology.
I guess I am a little uncertain about your question since, if you had read “Reading Reflex”, you would already be familiar with all of this. Are you using a tutor?
