Students with disabilities

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am a teacher intern and I was looking for ways or things that I could use to help students with disabilities reach their fullest potential. Can you help me? Thanks for your time.

Put the learner above the learning. Be more concerned with the student’s well-being than with anything else. Avoid practices that accentuate their weaknesses. Accomodate for their needs and modify the curriculum to be fair to their learning styles. Understand that school is often unfair to these children.

If you’d really like specifics, read Mel Levine’s book Educational Care.
