classroom question

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have read that several students with disabilities lose valuable time from general education classroom activities durning pullout times (students leaving to go to resource classes for specialized instruction). How can I as a general education teacher help the child that is leaving the general education classroom feel as comfortable as a student that does not leave the classroom?

Good question but no easy answer. I’d deal with that on an individual basis. I wouldn’t hold students responsible for material covered in their absence and that could go a long way to making the student feel comfortable when pulled out.
