some good News and other...

I wanted to update anyone who knows me,and what I have been doing down here in good old Fla. As you all know ,my children paritcipating in a private school placement under the Fla. Voucher program,has recieved inadequate funding for related services since they enrolled 8/00. I have been fighting the Dept. of Education ever since. Well,ladies and Gentlemen I am happy to announce the DOE,sent more money! Not only did they increase their annual funding they prorated the amounts for what months they were waiting. I would LOVE to say the DOE did this out of the kindess of their own hearts,or maybe out of a sense of duty to the laws? Don’t quite think so. I believe the Formal OCR complaint I file against the whole damn State had something to do with it,okay it probably didn’t either. Who knows why they gave,maybe I am a pretty darn good arm wrestler? Anyway,I am breathing a little easier,my children can now afford privately contracted therapy,and the schools tuition. Put a point down for Parents,scorekeeper.

Way to go Socks! Take a little breather and relax. Don’t let your guard down completely, but catch your breath and enjoy the moment while you can.

Andy,
me and letting my guard down,just doesn’t go together! But getting a better sleep at night,and not having to worry about where the services are coming from goes a long way …Have a Happy Easter,and Passover. Thank You for all the help and encouragement you have given me along the way.

Can you give me some details about the complaint you filed? how willthe funding actually increase? Right now I know it is a guaranteed amount unless a matrix for 254 or 255 is reported? What kind of related services are you talking about? Will it be provided at the private school? I too am a resident of Florida. Where do you live in Florida?
