question for MaryMN re fast forward

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am finishing Earobics with my 6 year old daughter (CAPD)
and want to start Fast Forward. There are no providers here in
Little Rock, AR. I have a teaching degree/experience so I called
them and purchased the Cross Train program.
Here is my question: After I get certified to be a provider, do I
have to buy the CD’s? I really want this mainly for my dd but
would consider providing to others. The lady in customer service kept
saying the CD’s would come with the Cross Train package.
Is this true?
thanks
stephanie

Here is how it works. The CD for FFW does indeed come packaged in the CrossTrain kit. However, you can’t actually use the CD to put a child through FFW until you pay the $850 licensing fee to activate the record-keeping that is done over the internet. Until you do that, and register the child as a FFW client on the website, the CD works only as a demo and does not save the training data.

CrossTrain costs about $100. If that’s what you paid, then you will still have to pay for FFW when you are ready to start putting your child through the program. Once you are certified, you pay that same licensing fee for any child you put through FFW. The whole thing is set up in such a way that it is impossible to put a child through the program without paying the $850-per-child licensing fee.

Having said that, I want to mention that for the last 3 years, the company has discounted FFW towards the end of year. One year they discounted it to $650 when purchased anytime in the month of December. Another year they discounted it to $650 for the last two weeks of October, $750 for the month of November, and $800 for December. The third year it was yet another system. If I were you, I would go ahead and get certified as soon as possible, because you need to be certified in order to pay the FFW licensing fee. However, once you’re certified, you may want to wait awhile before paying the licensing fee to see if it goes on sale again towards the end of this year.

Once you’re certified, since you have a college degree, you can put other children through FFW as a provider.
