I am wondering why I get turned down for services ? Is it because the people who run it are dorks and commies ? Or is it because, they don’t care for you ? Maybe, they are moneychangers and grubby turds who if they have theirs tey could not care about you ? What do you think ?
Re: LD where to get social services
I know all about VESID. VESID is the most crooked pack of scumbags to ever come down the pike. Their incompetance is no accident.
NYS put many of its retarded citizen in “sheltered workshops” which are really sweat shops and they steal from them quite easily. I know this to be a fact.
Re: LD where to get social services
I got an idea: lets lay off 25% of the VEISD staff. I mean some of those people do nothing but suck their thumb and play checkers instead of working. We do not have a great record of placing folks in good jobs anyway.
Re: LD where to get social services
Heres how to get vesid services. When you enter the building go to Helen Waite. lol
Tape record all your meeting with them without them knowing and when you spring it on them and they say that you illegally recorded them without their knowledge do what they would do. Lie.
Re: LD where to get social services
WOW! well, let me tell you in Kansas it’s almost that bad! About the only social services that are offered through the state that are vocational related is Vocational Rehab- as far as I know. I’m not sure what Ks. Job service has to offer- I’ve never had to use them when searching for employment- but plan to- as I anticipate returning to work, after four years off- due to taking care of BOTH my elderly father and stepmother….

Well I think that since social service is an industry and my guess here is that they have to help the people who are most in need. Since a learning disability is not something that you can see whereas a wheelchair is they might treat that person in the wheelchair better, offer him/her more services than someone whose disability they can’t see. A learning disability is thought of as an invisible disability-that doesn’t mean that its not there-it just means that it’s not visible, its not seen. And I think that the people in social services since they can’t see it they don’t remember it. I mean you probably look like a person who is fully functioning: you can talk, write, read(you don’t fit their classification of disabled)and this is the problem; this is what really needs to change.
I don’t know-I went to VESID in New York and I didn’t find them to be particularly helpful. I wanted to find out about job training progams and they told me that I was ineligible for that particular service(I am assumming here that say people who are mentally retarded would probably need this service more than we do; people who have suffered a terrible work related accident-I am just guessing), that I should concentrate on going to school. I think when it comes to dealing with adults who have learning disabilities they don’t know what to do or say. I wish I could give you more to go on.
