Has any one used concerta? If so, did it help any?
Re: concerta
I’ve been on Ritaline for years and years, then dexadrine for many years. My new psychiatrist for med management switched me to Concerta about three years ago. I took 54 mgs in the am and 18 mgs in the pm. It worked okay for me. After about 3 weeks I realized that the Concerta was good just not great.
I then went to Adderall. 30 mgs in the am. I find this drug to be most effective. I recently asked my doctor if I could switch to the new “wonder” drug for ADHD called Strattera. ( It was orignally put on the market as an anti-depressant) No amphetimines and not controlled- so your doctor can call in a script.
It didn’t do ANYTHING for my adhd. I promised I would try it for 4-6 weeks but I couldn’t stand not being able to focus at all and started to get high blood pressure from it. My Dr. had raved about this drug and is very up to date on medications and ADD/ADHD
None the less it didn’t work for me. Adderall is my drug of choice for my ADHD. Feel free to write to me off the boards……I have been on “something” for my ADHD the last 25 years!!! ( caught it early : - )
Take care,
Laurie
Re: concerta
I have just started taking Concerta (18mg) I have taken it for about 5-6 days now and I don’t see any noticeable improvement. Have I given it enough time to work? This is the first med I have tried for my ADD and I am really not sure what the meds are supposed to help with or make me feel. It would be helpful if someone could describe what they feel when their meds “work”.
Thanks!
Re: concerta
Interested in hearing results of any ADHD adults that have used this medication.
Both successful and not so successful.
Please share.
Hi,
I’ve been taking it for about 3 months now after about 8 years of taking ritalin. I can say that it works just as well or better than ritalin.
