Teacher Stress

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi all,

This is my first post. I wanted to talk about the stress levels teachers have as the result of working with LD children.

In order to be effective we have to be unstressed but as everyone knows whilst the rewards can be great the downside can be bad, not only for the teacher but also for the children.

Yoga is good for relaxation, so is meditation; I also found a free e-book on Stress at http://www.alphadynamics.com which helped. There’s a meridian therapy called EFT which is available at www.emofree.com and again has a free book. Colleagues of mine have tried hypnotherapy for stress relief with some good results.

I think it is important that whilst our main concern is for the children we should never forget that if we are working at low efficiency we are doing the children a disservice, so we have to think about ourselves once in a while for everyone’s benefit.

I welcome comments, experiences and stress busting tips.

Jack :)

Hi, Everyone,

This is also my first posting and I am a teacher in training. I hope to gain much insight into anything that any of you may have to offer. There is an underlying reason for my being here, and that is to find teachers from around the world to tell me about their experiences in teaching.

I hope that I can accomplish my mission, I have to write up on this experience over the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Canine Antics

Welcome dg,

Sometimes teaching can be the most rewarding career in the entire universe, and sometimes it can be dire, but you will have highs and lows. Just remember that when you get a low, there’s a high just around the corner! And that is so true if you teach LD children. Good luck!
