microphones

Do any of the teachers here use mircrophones in the classroom? My sons school does this and I really think this might be a real distraction, since it vibrates all over the class room, any suggestions.

called a sound field system to improve the auditory comprehension of the teachers voice for the students. Some of the newer schools are equipped with sound field systems and the kids actually do better in understanding the auditory information using this technology.

Technology used in my school is called the FM System. It consists of a microphone clipped to the teacher and a small radio transitor put in their pocket. The student wears an earpiece. The microphone is collected after each class and brought to the next teacher in the jr. high to use. The system is small and convenient to use. For students with processing problems or hearing problems, it really filters out the background noise and makes the teacher’s speech easier to hear.
