I was looking into the Phono-Graphics book “Reading Reflex” on Amazon.com and came across “How to Increase Your Child’s Verbal Intelligence”.
Does anyone have any experience with or comments about this book?
Re: How to Increase Your Child's Verbal Intelligence
I own this book and have used it quite a bit. I really like it. Prior to buying it I was able to borrow it from the public library so you may want to check and see if your library has it or can order it just to make sure it’s a book you’d use. I used to use some of the exercises as “car games” (great way to entertain kids on a boring car ride while stimulating verbal skills at the same time! ;-)
It’s very good. The first half contains a lot of interesting information and the reasoning behind the exercises. The second half contains the exercises. You can get bogged down in the explanations, if you’re not careful, and never make it to the exercises (ask me how I know this). However, I have heard from others that the exercises are really useful.
