I haven’t had a chance to visit your website yet,sorry, but here’s a suggestion: If you haven’t already done so, make links to all those papers you quoted on the math learning questions thread here. this could be an invaluable resource fore teachers.

Let me be grammar police — …most people with dyscalculia doesn’t even know that it exists….

that should be “don’t” even know (plural of “people” means it gets plural form, “don’t”).

I like the site — don’t feel badly if the discussion forum doesn’t take off, though. There are an awful lot of unpopulated discussion groups online (and others that get monopolized by odd characters). It would be a great PhD topic :-)
I gotta say that I do weary of the stamping of “disorder” on, basically, anybody having trouble with a subject. Let’s not consider that teaching methods might just contribute?

Well, the discussion forum will be quiet, sure, but at least its there, now.

I don’t have the energy to discuss the whole disorder/disability-label right now…

Loved the site! Found it to be very informative. I always did well in math classes, altho’ I must admit that I have terrible math phobia! :) I had trouble when I was little with understanding the concepts of time and addition/subtraction. To me, when someone showed me pictures of 3 oranges + 2 oranges it meant that they had “amount” of oranges - all those that I could see in the pictures. “5” just didn’t seem to symbolize what I saw…. this is hard to explain! :)
I hated word problems, and I still need numbers on my watches.
