I am a college student that is always trying so hard and always seem to end up with a very low grade. If it is a project I can get a good grade on it. I can read for hours and not know what I have read at all. Taking test are the worst, after study for hours I think I know and I even think I do good on these test but I always get low scores. I was just wondering if this could be do to a learning disability or do I just need to study more? Thanks for you help.
Re: Could I have a LD?
I wouldn’t say study more, I’d say study differently, too :-)
Do you know when you’re getting lost, or do you “get it” and then lose it?
Re: Could I have a LD?
Do a google search on adult learning theory. You may get some insight.
Studying in short bursts with many breaks helps you retain more information.
Well, you are studying more and more and not getting anything out of it. So you don’t need to study more, but to study differently.
It is possible that you have a learning disability; it is also even more possible that you are one of the very large number of students who have been pushed through elementary and high school with weak basic skills and dead-end approaches to learning.
You need to spend some time finding out how you can learn more effectively. A good tutor or a good educational therapist or a good psychologist can put you an the right track. You have to look around for a while until you find the right person, but keep at it.
