Our middle school uses this program. From what I can tell, its multisensory and has supporting resource. But what do I know!
Thanks for your input.

Re: What do you think of Megawords?
I would keep in mind that it is Orton based. People who have some familarity with Orton will be more comfortable with it, I think. It seems to me sound but I have no experience wiht it.
Another program to look into is Rewards by Sopris West (www.sopriswest.com— I think).
Both eps and Sopris will send you samples of their programs (might be available online as well, not sure) so that you can see which you personally feel most comfortable with.
I think either program would require a 4th grade reading level. (Perhaps the lower Megawords go a bit lower than that.) Also make sure that the child is really really solid in one syllable words, esp with blends before introducing this sort of thing.

Re: What do you think of Megawords?
I used it for the words in it — it is definitely “Orton-based” but it’s the kind of thing ORton teachers (like me :-)) use *with* their other materials.
For my students, like so many other materials it was too much to fast to use as presented. I was at a college prep private school for students with LDs; tended to be significant LDs but I think most teachers condense things too much to get stuff in the ol’ long term memory.
So like so many other materials — it’s good stuff, but what exactly are they doing with it?
I use the Megawords workbooks to reinforce my phonics instruction, which is multisensory (Orton-Gillingham). It’s great for giving students extra practice.
