My ears are burning. I took a class with Susan Barton years ago along with Shoshie. I saw Barton’s program as a prototype before she even went public with it. Barton really knows her stuff, however, I personally haven’t purchased any of her materials as I have so much stuff to teach reading right now.
On to other news… I am going to have a hands on experience with Reading 180 on Friday, it used as an Intervention program and not part of special education where I work. I will give you my unbiased opinions after I watch it in action and see the responses of the kids.
Hah! Well you are the gold standard around here. If I am goign to quote sources I like to make sure they are good ones. I’m sure the version now is better than the prototype as she has more chance to work with it. However, you got one on one instruction, which I did not have. I try not to be too envious of your small group instructions with Barton and Lindamood. :-)
I’ll be interested to hear your comments on Read180, but I think it is pretty moot (for me anyway). I didn’t get the job yet, which is a bad sign. And I don’t think the guy will use it anyway. I think the principal seemed a little threatened that I knew about reading. He no doubt wants someone he can push around.
