I use Sounds and Letters For Readers and Spellers written by Jane Fell Greene with my lower students. It is a wonderful book. The phonemic awareness drills are layed out for one. The drills include things such as phoneme blending, phoneme isolation, deletion, etc. The book has 18 lessons. My only problem is where can I find another book just like it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Signs for Sounds
McCracken in Canada publishes “Signs for Sounds,” which is essentially a spelling program. don’t forget that although spelling and reading are reciprocal processes - for some students they do not make the leap on their own. This is a systematic way to put skills into practice but it does not stand alone.
Best wishes,
Hi,
If you would like to help your students learn the sounds of words, there is an inexpensive, concrete, multisensory, pencil-and-paper method that you may want to try. It can be used with any text, any level. If you would like, I will send you some letters that I exchanged with other teachers.
Email me if you would like me to send you the information. [email protected]
