Drama for children

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am looking for some drama ideas to use at our Summer Reading Camp. Do any of you have websites or ideas that would be helpful?

I don’t have any webpages, but if you are using an Orton Gillingham based program I saw some very neat little plays that demonstrated certain Orton concepts using plays. This was at the IDA conference. Maybe you could figure out how to google this. :-)
Anyway it was very cute, they called themselves something like the “code kids” demonstrated “e” at the end, “r controlled”, etc.

What is the age group?

I personally don’t care for the book “Squids will be Squids” but my son loved it in fourth and fifth grade. There is a very simplied play based on the book….the 6th grade Aspie/HFA program is presenting it the last week of school. They have broken up the parts (easy to do as the play is a series of vinettes. They just have a different “Cory” for each story) so each actor has only a few lines.

You might also want to post this question in the teacher’s forums.

Thanks for the information. I use the Orton-Gillingham methods and will be interested to see what they use.
