Educators do you have students who are poor readers?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I’m a person who loves knowledge and learning, the problem is reading is a chore for me, basically I never finish a book that I start. I am willing to correct my academic errors, that’s why I went to a book store the other day and purchased a copy of “I Read It, But I Don’t Get it” by Cris Tovani. I’m only on page 18 so far but the book is answering a lot of my questions as to why I struggle with reading.

I would go into further detail about the book but like I said I’m still in the process of finishing it. Please go pick up a copy though and read if for yourself, it may provide you with some insight as to why your students are poor readers.

PS. This is not a spam thread intended to sell this product, think about this If the person who wrote this book was trying to sell this product on this board would their spelling and punctuation be this poor? (I’m working on my grammar and punctuation issues)

this thread is a whole hearted attempt from myself to provide you with new information that may help you when teaching.

Well now I read the commercial advertising policy and I must say that I feel a little foolish making this thread. I’m not sure if this falls under the same category as “spam” but either way, please delete it if I’ve broke this rule.

I don’t think you violated any rules posting this (as long as you didn’t write the book!) Actually the book has good reviews off Amazon. It is obviously a book re: reading comprehension, not decoding.

Nope, there is *nothing* wrong with posting something you’ve honestly discovered and sharing it :-) Hey, we really *do* want to do more than just vent about problems!! (And it’s not as if that is all you ever post about, as the same exact reply …)

That’s a book I’ve been meaning to peruse for a while… sounds like good summer browsing :-)

Now, you want to see something that does fly in the face of the ad policy, you could have gone over to the “reading” board until they took it down… (mess of posts saying “Sylvan can help”)
