If he’s in fourth grade or higher try Sopris West’s Rewards program—it has work on reading various vowel sounds, word parts (prefixes and suffixes but not roots), fluency—especially for multisyllable words, and some comprehension. This is a very easy to use program.

For Latin and Greek words, Vocabulary Vine is great and only costs $10. Critical Thinking also has Latin and Greek word root software that I’ve heard positive reviews for.

For comprehension, it depends on how deep his problems are. If it is due to visualization difficulties, you might want to look at Lindamood Bell’s Verbalization and Visualization or Ideachain, which is much easier for parents to use. In any case, look at the latter’s website. It will give a very good idea of what a visualization problem is. If visualization is a problem, you will need to start there. If not, try Joanne Carlisle’s Reasoning and Reading books. I think these are available from EPSbooks.
