Hi.

I’m adult with a LD.

There are schools just for LD adults but they tend to be pretty expensive. Most schools though are getting much better at accomidating us.

What type of school are you looking for?

Check out your local community college. They all have Disability Support Service offices. Go and talk to them. Some DSS are a lot better than others of course, but the only way to find out is to go there and ask. So go.

“The K&W Guide to colleges for students with Learning Disabilities”, is great. go here- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/037576495X/qid=1124817102/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-3822178-5216766?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Or you can purchase it at many large retail books stores.

Community COlleges can have lots of services; I provide free tutoring and academic support all day to anybody in a developmental level class (pre-101), specializing in helping students with LD. (It’s not even connected with the “disability services” so ask about any and all tutoring if that’s an issue.)

Beacon COllege in Florida
Brehm School has a postsecondary year for graduates (in ILlinois)
Another good place to look would be in the advertisements in the International Dyslexia ASsociation’s newsletter, Perspectives. If you called the IDA, they’d be willing to send you a “sample” copy you could look at.
You might also check a college library near you, but I would do that by telephone because I know University of Illinois didn’t have it.
