My son who is 9 years old has a LD. Well, we are in the progress of getting him tested. I will share more of our story later on. I just wanted to say hello.
Son with LD - Hi
Best of luck, welcome to the board, there’s a lot of really informed people here willing to share. If I had but one piece of advice to give it would be to spend as much time (or more) on your son’s strengths as on his perceived weaknesses. Can you imagine a baseball coach working hour after hour on Babe Ruth’s base stealing skills? Ken C
Re: Hi
Oh, and the other part of Ken’s tip is to be prepared for the testing folks *not* to focus on the positives, which can lead to what I call “post-meeting depression.” IT WILL PASS. He’s the same kiddo after testing as he was before. It can feel like you’ve been bludgeoned, though.
hi amomwhocares :D
hope all goes well in testing…
