Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi! I will be a resource teacher this year, and would like to do as much inclusion as possible. I was wonding, if you do inclusion, how you manage your program.
Thanks!

Be careful when doing inclusion with your students in the regular ed. classroom that you don’t end up being the teacher’s aide. Some regular classroom teachers have a real “problem” with having another teacher in their room.

I suggest you talk with the regular classroom teacher and make a plan for collaborative teaching. This way both you and the teacher will be doing the teaching. It will also appear to the children that both of you are there to help everyone and not just the students who are in special ed.

Good Luck!
