The closest Lindamood Bell center is 4 hours away. Is there anyone near me that is trained and can administer the programs? Thank you Melissa

Re: LindaMood Bell -
My son went through the LindaMood Bell program last summer when he was eight. We are in Kentucky, there are no official clinics from the website but there are 2 tutoring clinics in town that do have trained staff to do the program.
It is very expensive, $55-65 an hour during the summer we did 10 hours a week for the entire summer, then when school started we cut back to 6 hours a week for 5 weeks.
It was the best investment we ever made. At the end of 2nd grade he was at a 1.5 reading level, by the start of 3rd grade he was reading at a 3rd grade level and progressed appropriately thru the 3rd grade. Spelling is still a big issue decoding comes before encoding. The learning center we used did the Wilson Program at the same time as the LIPS to teach spelling rules. (I am not sure the spelling rules are agreat thing but they do also address letter pattern with repetition) He is still finishing the Wilson, but it is done more easily at home than LIPS.
The cost of the LIPS is staggering when you don’t know if it is going to work. We thought it was a false promise but we started seeing quick results when we decided to give it a try. We are glad we did. We feel like if we hadn’t spent the 8-10,000 dollars now we may not have the chance to spent it on college.
An additional observation we made since we after he was done. He is a different young man. He isn’t as aggressive or frustrated overall. He still has is moments But it really changed his personality to a very confident boy. We never knew the real boy we had.
I would recommend doing it at all cost or short term inconveniences, however, I realize we had a positive experience.
This summer we went back for a 2 week refresher before school started. My son fought it before going, when I picked him up after the first 2 hour session, he said “Mom, I’m glad I am doing this”
Good Luck!
Susan
Check the ISER website — I can’t pull up the address while I’m on this site, but it should be on a web search. This is a site that lists ads from various tutors. BUYER BEWARE — you must check the background and qualifications of any person you find on this kind of site, yourself.
