Lindamood Providors in New Jersey

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am a parent of a 9 yr old boy who is struggling in comprehension. I am looking for someone in New Jersey who is trained in Lindamood Bell V/V to work with him. I know about the clinic in Pa it is just too far.

Thanks

Lisa

My son is a 9yo dyslexic also. We did the LindaMood Bell 2 summers ago, with much improvement. It is the best investment we have ever made. We are in Kentucky, there are no clinics in our area either. However, we have two tutoring centers in the city that have trained LindaMood Bell tutors. They also offer other methods or a combination of methods based on the individuals needs. My son has benefited from the Wilson method also. He started with the Lips then worked on the Lips and Wison now finishing the Wilson. The wilson is helping with the encoding which comes after the decoding. GOOD LUCK!

You might be best off doing it yourself. Quite a few people have posted that V&V is quite easy to do just working from the book. Others have posted that IdeaChain does the same thing as V&V, but is scripted and contains everything needed (such as pictures, etc.) — which makes it very easy for a parent to do. IdeaChain costs about $250, I think. I don’t have the website handy, but if you do a search at http://www.metacrawler.com you will probably find it. If not, post here and I will find it for you.

I agree w/ Mary — unlike LiPS, V/V is more intuitively obvious, and the book is very specific. So even if doing the tutoring yourself doesn’t work for whatever reason, it just doesn’t require the same level of training and expertise to be effective as LiPS does (which addresses different issues entirely).

At that price, I’d really go for the LMB V/V which only costs the price of a book and about 1 hour total coloring in a bunch of pictures from the back of the book. Yes, the book is very readable, the concept very understandable, and the program easy, and fun!, to do.
