Do adults use FastForWord?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I’m not clear what the product does. It’s rigorous, extensive drills for your auditory system?

I believe I have central auditory processing disorder. I’m 36 y.o. I’ve developed a lot of coping skills. But I still haven’t got the hang of new or noisy social situations. And I still get offended sometimes and realize later, no offense was meant.

If there is a product/procedure/therapy out there that will help reduce some of this issue for me, I will do it. I have only ever read about children using FastForWord. Does anyone have personal experience with this, as an -adult-?

And- I don’t have a problem reading. I went out to www.fastforword.com, and it seems clear it is for (children) with reading problems.

I give myself a “B” in reading. I’m slow but I am an avid reader. I was a lousy speller in school but I’m decent now. Thank goodness for spell checkers and dictionary.com.

But I had and still have a big problem with taking verbal directions with more than one step. I am a visual learner. I love maps. I cannot get anywhere if someone tells me how to get there verbally.

I misunderstand what people say. I’d just as soon be by myself than go to a party. Even though I get lonely.

I dunno. Is there something that will train my brain to hear what people are really saying?
