I just spent over an hour working on responding to another person’s post. When I went to submit my post, I was told that someone else had that user name and that I needed to log in. I then logged in. But then what I had worked on for all that time was no longer available to submit.
This happened to me before and I sent an email to LD Online. I then carefully read instructions as to what to do. Yet in typical ADHD fashion, I forgot to log in today and didn’t think about not having logged in while I was writing my post. Perhaps it was saved and will be posted, but the last time this happened my posts were lost.
I wish that LD Online would hold onto posts from people who have forgotten to log in, so that they can be posted without being lost. Or maybe I should have used another name for that post and then posted that I was the person who had written it.
I like the protection of someone else not being able to post using my name, but I hate losing posts when I forget to log in. (I hadn’t originally intended to post. I just intended to read messages. When I decided to post, the issue of logging in didn’t occur to me. Since many people on these boards might have similar problems in always remembering to log in, perhaps a reminder could be written where people are asked to put their names. (e.g., Reminder - posts will not be accepted by members unless they have logged in prior to posting.)
Re: Forgetting to Log In
The irony here is I started drafting a response before logging in!
This has happened to me too. It’s about the only thing I’m having trouble with on this new board though…

Re: Forgetting to Log In
OK so explain the fact that I have never logged in and have posted several times to other forums on this board since the changes went into effect. I am totally confused.
Try this...
Before trying to send your post, save it. Use the left mouse button to highlight your post by clicking and dragging, then click the right mouse button and click on copy. Now if something goes astray you can click the right mouse button and paste your post back in again.
Let’s see if I can post this without logging in.

Re: Try this...
Hi Beverly and John.
It’s possible to post without logging in. You just can’t log in under a registered name. Since I post regularly, I want people to get to know me, so I prefer using my name each time. By having a log in system, noone else can post under my name.
The log in system was started after someone was maliciously posting under other regular posters’ names, so as to make them look bad.
I appreciate the advice as to how to save posts. I didn’t know there was a way to do so.
Re: Try this...
No wonder I have so much trouble with screen Names and log-ins and such…I’m easily confused.
I know cut and paste though. Good thing I didn’t have it when I went to college in 1968 because I would have probably used it to plagarize stuff. :)

I had written the previous post. When I went to post it, even though I had logged in when I first went onto the bulletin boards, I encountered the same problem that I had written about. What I did was change the user name so the post wouldn’t be lost. Unfortunately, the post that I had worked on for over an hour was lost. I just checked.
Now, since it’s Friday evening, I don’t know if this will be posted now or not until Monday, so “previous post”, in case other posts have been written before this gets posted, refers to the first post on this thread.
I love LD Online, but this situation has been extremely frustrating. Yes, I’m responsible for my ADHD symptoms, but its very frustrating when they result in annoyances like this.
Am I on medication for ADHD? No. I have high blood pressure and am old enough (61) to be concerned about the safety of either a medication that raises blood pressure or any new medication that hasn’t been around long enough to know how it interacts with other medications that I’m taking. I was started on ritalin, but taken off before a therapeutic dosage was reached due to increased blood pressure. I was told that any medication that raises blood pressure was not safe for me to take.
