Hi posters! I am a college student with NLD, studying secondary education. Clearly, I want to be a teacher. How are acedemic jobs for people like me? What about other jobs? (I’m mostly posting out of curiosity, by the way)
Thanks,
Sally
Re: Good jobs for people with NLD?
There are lots of folks in academia who would have been dxed with NLD if that were being done when they were in school. You’re pretty much on the same playing field as everybody else.
I have found teaching to be a rewarding career. I would say that just like all teachers you will need to build on your strengths and find ways to cope with weak areas. Set up systems for organization and communication and give your students consistent instruction and feedback. Good luck.
