Yes, it is absolutely possible to get a professional degree when having LD. Several people on here, including myself, who have or are going for advanced degrees. I’m starting a Masters in Social Work program this fall. I questioned myself for a while, but decided to try it because I want to help other people with disabilities and to educate the public about disabilities.

So if you want to be a nurse, I’d say go for it!! All you have to do is believe in yourself. It’s also a good idea to talk to others who are nurses or who work in the medical field, just to get an idea of what it’s like so you can decide if it’s right for you.

Good luck!!

I am a 40 year old female with LD and ADHD. I have been a child and adolescent therapist for 10 years and I have recently quit my job and I am back in school to be a special education teacher. NEVER GIVE UP. You may be able to receive special services for your LD. Have you thought about contacting your local community college as a starting point? Going to college may not be easy but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it!!
