Uncertain about ADD

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have just recently reentered college to receive a degree in Elementary education. I am taking a class about learning disabilities.

I was never diagnosed as having a disability whenever I was in school before. I wonder if I would be now. How do you deal with learning about a disability at a late stage in life? I am in my late twenties.

How is your learning disabiity affecting you? The answer to that question would be how you deal with it.

If it’s having a negative impact on your life, you might consider getting tested by your college’s psychological services or a private educational psychologist. There are some accomodations that could be made available to you such as extended time on tests.

Sometimes counseling or even just increased awareness can help but again - a great deal depends on how your learning difference manifests.

Good luck.
