visual processing LD

i am a divorced mom of 2 sons. I found out about 5 years ago I have a viual processing LD. Its getting increa :? singly harder to drive. I dont do much driving anymore, just when I have to… No highway dring thats for sure! I am a cashier and am tired of making kid pay. Is it possible to get am adult job with this kind of learning disibility. I have tried all my life!
Are there others who share my frustrations about getting a decent job…….Please share with me!!! Thats what we all need here is support.

Have you ever been tested for Irlen Syndrome? I responded to another message suggesting this problem, which both my sons have. Put very simply , when someone with Irlen Syndrome tries to read, especially black print on white paper, the letters slip off the page, vibrate or blur. By getting tested, sufferers can be fitted with colored lenses in eyeglasses or use a colored sheet of plastic to put over reading material. But you must be tested by someone certified…check online.

I dont have any trouble reading, I dont have what you are describing.

Sherry, I know what you mean about having a hard time finding a GOOD job. I have LD(visual, auditory type)and ADD. Since 9/11 I haven’t really had a full time job. I have worked Part time and have been hired for a few full time positions, but they don’t last because they are just completely wrong for me. Its FRUSTRATING! most people my age(mid 30’s) have established careers, are married with some type of a career path that they have followed…not me! Its a nightmare trying to put together a decent looking resume(believe me I HAVE to do some lying). Its pretty sad, but I’m relying on help from my parents, luckily I come from a very good family who is willing to help me out. Believe me I don’t like it though. Having LD/ADD is VERY, VERY frustrating sometimes…..it really sucks! another thing is most people just do not get how hard it is sometimes to live with these types of ‘hidden’ disabilities! comments?????
