For parents and anyone else who this is relevant to… We need an LD union! $50 is simply NOT enough! These studies take up our time and the stuff they learn we are then *paying* to hear about, at usually atleast more than double the slave wage we are payed. I suggest that rather than letting them financially drive this “industry’, dictating what they will pay, that as we are the ones in possession of the goods which they are making 7 figure incomes off of, that we should be setting our own rates. If they want what we have, they should be paying us enough to support ourselves with. After all they then want to make money off of us charging us money to hear them speak about our LD… And their labels make it that much harder for us to get jobs and or to demand equal income… They aren’t hurting any for cash. Maybe these tests and these test subjects would be treated differently if they actually had a monetary value? After all, one values what one pays for and honestly, we are not the ones benefitting financially off our learning disabilities, they are. And it is unethical as they write about us as inferior intellectually. To take advantage of someone intellectually inferior is like…. the 8thh grade bully offering the clinically retarded kindergartener 5 cents, to give him his $5 lunch money. What are we worth and what is our time worth? 50 dollars a test isn’t even a 4th probably not even an 8th of what they are making off of these studies. Its all about supply and demand. We have LD they don’t if they want our time in order to study our LD insisting on a fair wage instead of something that is generally not a fourth of what they make and often isn’t even equal to minimum wage is ridiculous.
