SLI Research Subjects Wanted.
Earn $250 for about 5 hours of your time.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: Dec. 13, 2002. (Recordings must
be completed by Jan. 13, 2003.)
We need to record brain waves in subjects who have
been specifically diagnosed with Specific Language
Impairment (SLI). SUBJECTS MUST BE ABLE TO SHOW US, OR REFER US
TO THE TEST RESULTS THAT ESTABLISHED THAT THE SUBJECT HAS SLI.
For more information, or to contact us:
1. SEND AN EMAIL TO: “[email protected]”, or
2. Call (415) 289-7473, and leave your name and mailing
address on the answering machine. Please refer to the “SLI
study.” Further information will be sent to you.
Subjects should be adults, 18 - 35, or children 10 - 17
with parental consent, with normal hearing.
Subjects should not be taking any drugs that affect
the brain because such drugs would alter the results.
Brain-wave testing is done by pasting several button like sensors
to the scalp using a paste that washes out with water. Sounds
are played into earphones. Subjects recline in an easy chair,
and watch silent movies. A testing session is 4 - 6 hours long,
with breaks.
Qualified SLI subjects are reimbursed $250 for their first
testing session, and $40/hour thereafter.
A travel-costs supplement is available, and meals are provided if the
testing sessions occur over a meal period. Free parking is
available, and public transportation drop-off and pick-up stops
are nearby. We are located in Sausalito, just North of
the Golden Gate Bridge.
Women, minorities and children are encouraged to apply.
This research is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Don L. Jewett is the Principle Investigator in this research.
He is known world-wide for his research on brain waves
as applied to studies of various medical conditions.
