I am new here- but am looking for any help developing a proposed IEP for 17 year old ADD, ADHD, Dyslexic son. He has lived with his dad for 3.5 years and I recently found out they had stripped him for all tools and help that were in place for him previously. I requested copies of what he has in place and it is a 504 with the only recommendations of my son can request help if he feels he needs it or more time to do work. I just want to strangle people who say ” He can do the work, he just doesn’t” Why do you think he just doesn’t?????Because they like being grounded? Because they want you fussing at them all the time? Calling them lazy? His dad said he didn’t want him in special ed. Anyway, I need to find out what he is entitled to at his age. I was told that he out aged EIP- ( early prevention plan ) This is in Georgia. They all felt he is too old to help or hold his hand as they say. argh. any and all suggestions are appreciated. What is in his transition plan for success from high school help him be successful in college or in getting a job? Ehat grade is he in? Is he attending high school or college?
You have different options that may help your son. You can request that he be re-evaluated for services or you can request additional accommodations to his 504 plan. The goal is that your son is successful in the classroom.
