I would be very appreciative if anyone could offer some help or advice - searching for answers. I have a 2 year old boy that does not understand any words and does not talk. He is my youngest and has two older sisters, 7 and 10. He seems normal in every other way. We had his hearing checked and there does not seem to be any issues. He responds to music and sounds like the doorbell or the bathwater but not to any words at all. In general, he developed on the late side(walked at 18 months, teethed late). We have taken him to speech therapy over the last 3 months but he has not made any progress with respect to understanding. He communicates to us by banging on the TV if he wants it on, or going to the refrigerator if he is thirsty. He babbles a bit, but the only sounds that really come out are da da and ya ya. Will he ever speak???
Has anyone tested for auditory processing? This is not the same testing as done for hearing.
