6. General

The London Early Autism Project (LEAP) was formed in the autumn of 1998 and is a programme and clinic for the treatment of autistic children based on the work of Dr Ivar Lovaas. It currently provides home-based programmes to pre-school children throughout the United Kingdom. LEAP is currently one of two organisations to provide the Intensive Model of Supervision to many of its clients. The London Early Autism Project is affiliated with the Wisconsin Early Autism Project Inc, the largest Replication Site for Lovaas’ research in the world. Dr Glen Sallows is the president of both organisations. Dr Maggie Anderson will be on-line on Thursday and Friday between 14:30 pm and 16.30 pm (GMT).

Dr Anderson, Director of Clinical Services at the London Early Autism Project, has had over twenty years’ experience using Applied Behavioural Analysis with children and adults in the UK. She has worked in the Health Service, the Social Services and in Education for Children with Special Needs. Her practice has included working in residential care settings and special schools, and with children and families on intensive behavioural intervention programmes. Dr Anderson’s areas of clinical expertise are working with children with challenging behaviours and older children with Asperger syndrome.

Representatives of other educational approaches have been invited to take part in these discussions.

This e-mail has gone out to over 10,000 worldwide users of autismconnect.

Best wishes,the autismconnect team
