Be persistant!! But, be patient too!!

Hi everyone, I’m new here. I just wanted to share my story.
Morgan (9 years old) has had problems since she started pre-school. The teachers always told me she was having alot of problems with learning. I pretty much thought she was not ready for school. I also thought she was being lazy or just straight up being stubborn. Myself and the school just kept on the normal progress stage and wanted to see if she grew out of it.
Well she didn’t!! We retained her in the 2nd grade. She stayed with the same teacher. He and I worked together to get the answers we were looking for. I kept him informed and he kept me informed. We worked as a team. If you are lucky enough to have a great teacher, take full advantage of it.
She is diagnosed with ADD and Dsylexcia. This after an extensive eye exam with an optomitrist. Psyc, services. My Psyc. is very knowledgable in Dsylexcia.
I then took all my info to the Principal, and requested a psycological evaluation on Morgan through the school psycoligist. By law, they have to do this. Go right to the Special Education department to request this.
Now we have a plan and everyone is on board.
I think I have Morgan in an excellent school system. Standish-Sterling Schools is located in Michigan.
I have alot more patience when it comes to dealing with her and learning. You have to get on their page and understand where they are coming from. It is hard to do when you think normal and they don’t. Come up with fun ways to learn and they will respond. Give them lots of love, keep their confidence level high. Learning disabilties have a huge impact on the self-esteem and everyday life activities.
Good luck to all…
