Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, ADHD, & Gifted - Help!!

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My 9-year-old, 4th-grade son was just diagnosed with dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADHD, & tests in the top 98.9% in intellegence scales. This is all new to my husband & me. Although we had our suspicions about the ADHD & we suspected he was bright, we were blown away by the very superior intellegence, the dyslexia, & had never heard of dysgraphia. The dyslexia came as a complete surprise because our son loves to read, reads way above his grade level, & has a very advanced vocabulary. The issues that led us to have him tested are his lack of organizational skills, laborious handwriting, poor fine motor skills, inability to follow a set of directions, forgetfulness, his inablility to sit still, & his ability to hyper-focus on some things while lacking the ability to focus on others. Does anyone have any advice, guidance, or experience with a gifted child with all, or any, of these other issues? Help!
