We have been trying to find out if there are any people out there with dyslexia, who ride motocross or dirtbikes.We would really like to find out if there are and learn more about them. We are intrested because keith is dyslexic and very into dirtbikes and motocross and would like to know of any famous riders or even just someone with dyslexia who rides dirtbikes.

Wow, it is so weird how similar our situations are. Our son , who is 12 is also very good at it , as if he were born to ride. Someone who looked at a photo of him replied ” He looks as if he is part of the bike, like the toy ridders molded to the seat of a toy bike” We have yet to come across anyone his age that was better ,but I’m sure they’re out there.He has entered a couple of semi- formal jump competitions with adults and bigger teens.He loves the attention !
Keith would like to know how old your son is , what kind of bike he rides, where you guys are located ,what other intrests does your son have, ect.
He also has been unable to really shine at school because of the dyslexia, and he also has A.D.H.D . We had to fight the school to find him eligable and even when we did , they still don’t make sure he gets what he needs and deserves ,as far as remediation.
He has been wanting to know about famous people in his field of intrest , that have become sucessful even if they had dyslexia or adhd.The school will never see many of his VERY many talents.Our school won’t even say the word dyslexia, how about yours ? Thanks for responding !

I worked at the Greenwood School some years back. At least a few of the students there were into dirtbikes— one or two seriously. Many dyslexics seem to talented at certain balance sports. One of my former students was ranked # 5 in the world as a slalom snowboarder last year (I had nothing to do with it). He was the gold medalist at the GoodWill Games two years ago. He was also pretty serious about mmotorcycles.

Our son seems to have really good balance in general, and he seems to really be in tune with his body.Ever scince he was two or three he’s been able to do head\hand stands for the longest time, many minutes!! he skateboards ,loves bikes,bmx and motorcycles.He is known as the “Wheelie King” in our neighborhood ,because he can hold up a wheelie for the longest,which is quite long.He’s always had a natural rythm inside him also, which he uses for dancing (when he’s not feeling too cool) or for playing the drums or even tapping on the counter or his desk at school.
He’s small in size , only weighing 60 lbs at twelve years old.He likes football and soccer and does well at both , although football “pop warner style” ,it’s tackle and he will get squashed! he’s always picked for sport teams at school….. really , anything physical that he does , he does well.As for motorcycles, they are his biggest passion .He has always been drawn to things with motors or things that go ..especially if they go fast! He is always looking for the rush or thrill .Anyways sorry to ramble on…

My dyslexic son also loves to ride, and he’s good at it, better than others his age, and we brag to him about that. Just another thing he’s good at, but at school that doesn’t matter.
