I have noticed a lot of comments about teachers and principals being less than understanding about the problems of an LD student. There is an excellent video put out by PBS called
” How Difficult Can this Be? Frustration, Anxiety and Tension (FAT) City Workshop” by Richard Lavoie. I think every parent and teacher of an LD student could really benefit from viewing this video. It teaches teachers what it is like to be LD and how cruel teachers can be when they don’t understand how difficult it is to cope in a regular class room. It suggests strategies for teachers to use to help and incourage LD students. You should be able to get it from PBS or perhaps from your local LD Association or Literacy Center. Other titles include Last one Picked…First One Picked On and When the Chips are Down, also by Richard Lavoie. I know you will find them both entertaining and eduacational, well worth tracking down.
Re: Educating teachers about LD
The LD OnLine store has the videos and a lot more books about how to help. You are right the Rick Lavoie video is really good.
It helps LD OnLine, too, if you order from them. Look at the top of the page and you will see a button for store to click. I have found so many wonderful things from their store.

Re: Educating teachers about LD
I am looking for a recommendation for a good video to show my daughters what exactly LD means and how this relates to their brother, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
This site is part of WETA, a public TV/radio station, and you can get the videos through them.
