Does anyone know what effect a poor working memory (13th percentile) has on IQ? A testing psychologist told us it has an effect, but was unable to quantify the effect.
Re: Effect of poor working memory on IQ
Bellcom,
Was your child given the WISC-IV? If so, please post all of the Index scores and the Full Scale IQ score. I might be able to help.
Take care…
Re: Effect of poor working memory on IQ
Hi Bellcom~
I just went through the working memory info with my daughter’s doc as well. As you probably know the working memory is the ability to hold information in the short term such as directions, comprehension of material etc., and it also effects the processing information.
From what I understand, scores are often relative to other scores. However, the effect of the deficiency can vary depending on the individual child meaning the level of drive, commitment, maturity, age, confidence and frustration level and of course quality and quantity of remediation and support.
I’m fairly new at this so I’m sure others here have better input and knowledge :P
Best wishes~
