Hi,
I have a 7yr. old little girl with ADD and Dyslexia. She was on Adderall 2.5mg a 5mg pill cut in half. We changed her meds yesterday and I was wondering if anyone as any input for the Focalin.

I hadn’t heard of this brand name. The manufacturer has a website with some good info. on ADHD for parents, teens, and teachers— unfortunately it didn’t give specific info. on this medication. focalin.com

We have receintly switched our son from Adderall SR to Focalin with good results. Adderal non SR worked well but the side effect of weight loss was too great. The SR version was tried, however it did not effectivly treat his symptms (Dosage too small I think). With Focilin his ADHD and ODD have been controlled just slightly worse than Adderall. However he has gained 5 pounds in 3 months (46 lbs to 51) (he is 8.5 years old).
My 6 year old son started on Focalin 2.5 in May. Just the first week we had some side effects - loss of appetite, emotionally he became very sensitive, and one hard day (for me) he had the appearance of looking drowsie and drugged. Since then everything has balanced out. All results are GREAT!! Right now I just make sure he has a meal prior to taking the meds. I hope your results are as positive.
