Hi all, first post here
I was just wondering if anyone else here has been thru genetic testing with their ADHD child.
My son is 13 and has ADHD along with several learning disabilities. He had genetic testing done several years ago and has extra X material attaches to his Y chromosome. This testing was done in a LARGE hospital in Texas with a rather extensive patient database, yet we have found nobody else with the same genetic abnormalities as my son, Eric. I have searched far and wide.
So I was just curious.
Genetic testing and ADHD
We were visiting a specialist and they decided to do some general blood work on my son, my husband and myself to see if they could rule out anything and they sent it all to the University of Columbia and some abnormal things showed up so they sent us to a geneticist. Honestly I don’t recall what exactly they were looking for, it was several years ago. As for as a name for what he has, there isn’t one, and we haven’t found anyone else with it. And unless we were willing to put him thru extensive testing, there is no way to know exactly what this abnormality affects. Because it is chromosomes, and there is absolutely no way to change them, we didn’t feel it was necessary to put him thru more testing. He goes thru enough
curious about what prompted you to test for this, and if it has a name. Do the genetic doctors feel its a factor in his LD?
