Socks,

Wow! I didn’t think I was living in such a forward thinking state, based on my other experiences with the special education system here.

Do you know a site where those of us who lose track of who is in office can find our elected representatives?

Hey Beth,
the state is so forward thinking we just have some real GREAT parents!
Here is a few number to call:
1. Call House Speaker Tom Feeney at (850)488-1450 and tell him you know he promised to take up SB-1156/HB 659 in Messages and to support it and that you are counting on him to keep his word. Tell him the bill is there waiting for him.

2. Call Majority Leader Jerry Maygarden at (850)488-1993 or (850)488-8278 and
tell him you are disappointed that he and the House leadership worked and
lobbied to kill legislation that would help children with disabilities. Urge
him to support the bill.

3. Call incoming House Speaker Johnnie Byrd (850)488-0807 and tell him you are not happy that House leaders worked and lobbied to kill legislation that would help children with disabilities. Urge him to support the bill.

4. Call Rep. Allan Bense at (850)488-9696 and tell him you are not happy that he and other House leaders voted against the bill and urge him to help pass the bill.

And of course,Thank You Surfing Sally! Her site will take you to your area reps.

socks,

You have spurred me on to contacting my regional special ed.parent resource center to ask if there are any parent groups in NC lobbying for exemption of special ed. kids from our state high school exit exam. Once a few states pass these bills, it’ll be easier for the other states to get them passed. So, GO FL!!!
