Help

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I really need a support group or someone, My step-children twins 10yrs old boy & girl and husband have ADHD, I am having a hard time with everyday life with them all. I have supported them, helped them all I can for several years now without support from anyone. Now, I am worn out and the twins are acting like 5 year olds, we have come along way since I have known them. But I am tired, my husband tries to help but he never was treated as a child and does not even have his life or ADHD under control. I live in central GA, does anyone know of any place I can get help. I love them but they drive me crazy (LOL). It does not help when I have a type A personality either. I just can’t understand why I have to tell them so many times the simply things like what to do in the morning to start (all 3 of them) their day off.

Thanks,
Sharon

I hear your frustration. Are they on any medication? What kind of things are you doing that are working and what happens when it gets to the point where you have had enough. Are you the one that organizes everything for them?

What kind of things can they do to make things easier for you? There are some great books out there that you can read, Driven to Distraction is one that comes to mind. I don’t know of any support groups in GA I believe there are some online support chat groups you can hook up with. nethaven is an online chat group that might be a good place for you to start.
