Help! I have a question

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I think I read somewhere that children with a reading or learning disability have a hard time comprehending what they read, but they comprehend if someone reads to them. The school is wanting 2 CRCT scores before they consider testing, but I think they either read the questions or the questions and answers on the CRCT for 1st and 2nd grade. If they do read them, how is this going to help them see if he might have a reading disability. I’m trying to get my son tested he’s in 2nd grade and struggling with comprehension, reading speed and phonics. The school wants to keep trying more interventions but I just want them to try to find out he keeps struggling. Hope this makes sense, I’m just very confused. Thanks.

Are you in the USA or UK?
If you are in the USA you can request a form from your school which requests in the valuation for special-education services. If you sign this request form the school must perform in the valuation.
