What can the family do for child with ADD/ADHD?
The best thing a parent can do?
Be the strongest advocate for their child. Even if that means going against the grain (ie: principals, teachers, schools, other parents, doctors, psychologist, etc.) The best thing I have done, gone with my gut feeling that drugging my child was against his best interest and sticking to it.

To ecbsb — a “please” rather than a direct command would be appreciated, thanks.
You can get oodles of excellent information by clicking on the link above to LD In Depth.
You can also get lots of great information by going back and reading all the old posts on Parenting a Child With ADHD.
I hope you have also gone through your library and read a few books — most public libraries have books by and for parents (I was skimming one in our local library tonight), and of course a college education library will have so much info that your problem is sorting it out.
You should really do all this basic information gathering first; we can’t start from scratch with such a general question, which would really take a book to answer properly.
Parents need to learn all they can about the condition and help the child compensate for his/her disability.
