My son had a problem with visual motor intergration. He also had several other specific visual/motor deficits. It is amazing that there really are subcategories of subcategories of these disabilities. I say had because after vision therapy and interactive metronome his deficits have diminished to the point that they are barely noticeble.
He still has a one remaining visual deficit related to focusing near and far but has become fairly good at compensating for this problem. I listened to others who initially were negative on VT and that was a mistake. If I had started sooner when the eye muscles were more flexible I think we could have even conquered that last piece of his deficit.
Make sure you go to that addresses the issues not just on a visual level but does motor activities to address balance other motor deficits.
He is doing well now in 6th grade after much intervention. He is no longer classified and more importantly is happy and successful. Most of my friends don’t believe he ever had a problem.
the above post was mean’t for Mava.
Best to you all!
