Does anyone know how to get a educational testing for a young teenage in Hillsbrough County Fl by the public school WHEN your child goes to private school. Name to contact and address and the correct wording to proceed.
Thanks Josephine

Yes,you contact either Ed McDowell special ed. director,or FDLRS.

You simply write a letter stating that you are requesting an educational evaluation to be done for the purposes of identifying your child’s possible learning disability or needs. I would personally write to McDowell,and I gaurantee he will let you know who else you should contact.

Depending on what type of evaluation you are looking for,FDLRS might be contracted,or if it is OT ,Speech etc. Your district school might be the ones.

The thing to remember is:
the district MUST evaluate ANY child,whether in public or private school. It is under child find in IDEA. If you have trouble I can point you in the direction of others to contact:-)

The other thing;
Hillsborough county has a policy adopted by the school board that states once parental consent is given for evaluation they have 60 days to complete it. 30 days til testing and 30 days til eligibility meeting. A wise thing to include in your letter is that the signature is to serve as your parental consent for evaluation.
