Hope and a sigh of relief

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

As we all travel down this road of helping our children, I wanted to share my sigh of relief and the hope it keeps alive. As some of you recall after 8 years in public school we moved and enrolled our son in a private, college prep high school for learning disabled students. He has done beautifully getting a good education but also getting opportunities that never would have been available to him in a large school. Since he will soon be 16 and a junior in high school, I began looking at accomodations for the SAT. I contacted his school to make sure we meet the deadline, and found they had already sent in the paperwork so that he will take the test with them using a reader or audio tapes. I always had to push and shove to get accomodations and now it is effortless. I always keep an eye to the future and what we need to do next, but it is such a relief to have a school that knows what to do and does it. The future looks bright and while the move and changes have been difficult they have definitely been worth the effort.
