Do your have experience in inclusion classrooms? Yes
What is your philosophy of inclusion? It’s a great idea, but it takes more effort than just putting children with a disability in the regular classroom.
What are the critical dimensions of an inclusive classroom? You have to have enough support staff to help eveyone.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of inclusion? The advantages are…it puts kids with a disability in the enviroment of a regular class room, the disadvantages are….you have to make accomodations for these kids, it’s not helping anything if they are just “dumped” in the classroom. It’s following the law, but it’s not teaching them.
Do you think tat children with any kind of disability can be included in the general education classroom? Yes, with enough support staff
What tips would you give teachers to enhance the inclusion of students with special needs in the general education
classroom? Teach to everyone, not just the non-disabled students and hope the disabled students pick something up while you’re at it.
What are some reasons that make inclusion unsuccessful? Not enough support staff, not making accomodations for the disabled kids.
Is inclusion emphasized because it has a values-orientation?
What is the future of special education? That depends on where you’re at,and if the people there want to make it work. You can’t just throw kids in the regular classroom and say here you go, accomodations must be made.
