Just saying thank you...

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My DS just completed his first year at a new LD school. He’s made wonderful progress in reading and writing. He still has attentional and social issues that we need to watch for and address.

The journey we’ve been on since his first comprehensive testing over 2 years ago has been amazing and difficult. I could never have done it without the support and knowledge of the parents , teachers and other professionals I ‘ve met on this board.

Just wanted to thank you all — it isn’t over yet!

I wish I could have been as much help to you as you have been to me, Karen.

I would like to take this opportunity to second your sentiments, and thank from my heart all of you on this board who have helped me during this difficult year, and you know who you are (JenM, victoria, Roxie, TerryB, etc.). My older daughter had a little setback today with her ongoing depression, and she isn’t even in school at this time, so I don’t know what to make of it quite yet… We are doing the best that we can.

I will have little time to be online during the next month or so. I will catch you all in August, most likely. Unless, of course, I have a drastic problem and need help from one of you wise people before then…

Have a great summer to you all! :)

To Cathryn — expect some ups and downs. Change is never easy, even if in the long run it will be change for the better. Reassure your daughter that these ups and downs are all part of living and she doesn’t need to make herself worse worrying. (Heck, I’m having a really down time right now myself, just reminding myself to carry on — sounds trite but it does work).
Now that the ongoing emergency is over, try to find some things to do to take her out of herself as much as possible. It’s swimming weather, she can help with the packing, art classes …
Good luck and email me if you want to chat. Hey, come up to Montreal some time — we are entering our fabulous summer.
